I was able to join Educational Therapists from
the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Russian, Spain and Turkey at the end of January for a NILD gathering/conference in Madrid.
Here Debbie Dower, the Director of the Discovery program at BFA, is leading one of the sessions.
The classroom that we met in was also home of two boa constrictors.
Somehow I ended up sitting in front of them!
We were kept pretty busy attending sessions each day, but one of the evenings we were able to take a walking tour of Madrid.
A landmark of Madrid...the post office.
For dinner we went restaurant hopping. Spanish meals are a time for socializing, rather than having a large meal we went to two restaurants for appetizers, as is the custom.
This was our first stop...
stuffed mushrooms!

Our next stop was next door. These restaurants were next door to each other. They were also near the square in which the Spanish Inquisition took place. It is quite possible that some of the prisoners were held in the spaces that we ate...
