October, Part 2

October was a busy month...it seemed that I was always going somewhere!
One weekend I went over to stay at Palmgarten, the girls dorm up the street. While staying at Palm, it got pranked by a guys dorm. Pranks are one of the ways that the dorms interact and have fun with each other. With permission from the dorm father, the guys came after lights out (at midnight on Fridays) and took all the toasters and computer cables. The guys told them that in order to get their stuff back they needed to make a cheesecake! Here's some pictures from that weekend:

The following weekend I stayed with a freshman (and dog) since her parents went with the junior class as sponsors on a field trip to Normandy. The following week I was invited to go hiking through the Italian part of the Swiss Alps. When I got back I went to stay with a Senior whose parents were at a conference for their mission for a week. Not too long after that I stayed with the pastor's kids for one night while he and his wife went on a Silence and Solitude Retreat. (I would have loved to have gone on the retreat too, but it was in the middle of the work week, so school took priority!) This week I was supposed to house and kid sit, but my dad is here so I get to stay home instead!

Here are some pictures from my hike in Switzerland. The trip was short and very tiring. While hiking up to our "hutte" I was beyond exhaustion, but in the end it was all very worth it.
We started the hike at this dam.

Look closely! Yes, those are Pigs in the Swiss Alps! Not the animal I imagined I'd run across on our hike.
The people who ran the "hutte" where we stayed had turned off the water for season. So all the water we used for the weekend was retrieved form this fountain.
The final destination: a "hutte" at the top of a mountain!

Here's the proof that I made it to the top! :)

Watching the sun set after a long day of hiking

The next morning we were enveloped by clouds

As we made our way down the mountain we heard bells ringing in the distance. We didn't see any cows and thought that the white specks coming down from the other slope were perhaps sheep. Nope! This herd of goats came right by us as we continued our downward

Sunday morning the 17 of us gathered for some worship by this hut. This is a picture of my Meghan, my roommate, and me

I was really excited to go on this trip. Even though I live so close to the Alps I this was my first trip to them since moving here last year!
